I was up with the sun this morning. I have so much to do today. I have to buy some soil so I can get all my plants in some dirt. I have tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, and strawberries. I am also planting some potatoes. I cannot find any zucchini plants! Ugh. I really need to get at least 2 of those.
Then, I have my pretties to plant. I have a bunch of petunias for some hanging pots. I did not get my favorites this year (Gerber daisies), because I cannot ever seem to keep them alive. I also have a Begonia from last summer that I brought in over the winter. It has exploded in size since I set it out on the porch. I am hoping it will flower again.
I have two large pots on my lower porch that I tossed some seeds in to, mostly poppy seeds, and I tossed some zinnia seeds in as well. I also planted some lavender, cilantro, basil, and a pot of pansies. I also shoved some sunflower seeds into random spots in the yard. I also sprinkled some wildflower seed in a little area I had intended to turn over, but upon trying, it is SO rocky, I just kinda gave up. I didn’t have it in me. I was attempting this after power washing the back deck and the back of my house. I was spent. So, the seed got tossed into the area, I threw some dirt on it and watered it. We shall see if anything pops up as a result.
I did something to my sourdough starter. I am not sure what happened, but it went sour. So, I am starting fresh this morning. I am also cutting up and roasting some veggies for the week. I don’t have much, just some Brussels, a sweet potato, carrots, onion, and asparagus. I might toss in a can of rinsed chickpeas, too. Or, maybe some broccoli. Hmmm…
It is going to be sunny here today, but a bit cool. I am hoping to get all of this done, plus my laundry, and some additional meal prep for the week.
Whatever it is that you have to do today, if anything, I hope you can find the joy in it. Remember to slow down and enjoy the little things!!
I am off to bake a banana bread for breakfast and make some coffee! Y’all have a good day!
I gave up on trying to turn over any soil in my yard. It’s all clay and rocks. Nothing stays alive for long. So I got some raised boxes and planted my stuff in those. I’ve got strawberries, blueberries, onions, and potatoes in one (they’re all coming along nicely). I’ve got blackberries and strawberries in another (the blackberries were already established bushes that I moved). I’ve got buckeye and wisteria trees in another – it’s more of a nursery until they’re sapling stage so maybe they’ll have a chance against the wildlife outside my fence. In the last one I’ve got a dahlia, some wildflowers, poppy, and something else I can’t remember. But the last one was just planted yesterday so we’ll see how it does.
I’ve never tried to make sourdough. I know it’s time consuming (if that’s the right word) to deal with and I tend to forget about things like that. Soooo yep not one for me. BUT I do love making my mom’s coffee can bread. Maybe I’ll do that today…
